Students of Banking and Insurance Department of School of Applied Sciences, Istanbul Gelisim University are at the Museum of İşbank
In the technical trip arranged by Asst. Prof. Dr. Gülgün Çiğdem who is the Faculty Member of Banking and Insurance Department of School of Applied Sciences at Istanbul Gelisim University, with the attendance of Res. Asst. Burçin Yazar taken an important responsibility at every stage of the event, our students taking courses in relevant topics found the opportunity to investigate the “History of Banking after the Republic” and development in the technology closely in a historical perspective, thanks to the excellent guidance of the officials of Museum of Türkiye İş Bankası.
The Museum, in which all the written and visual materials are kept alive for the period from the Atatürk’s instruction to establish the Türkiye İş Bankası based on the decision of developing national banking in Izmir Economic Congress (1923) until today, not only in terms of banking history, but also is worthy to observe in terms of presented historical and technological movement and a society’s socio-economic paradigm.
In the Museum, all the materials are available for a detailed examination of the advertising and marketing studies. Accompanied by the guides, the trip in the Museum, where all the used equipment, tools and instruments are displayed since the period where today’s essentials internet and computers were not existed, ended downstairs where the special vault is located.
The examination conducted behind of the German made special steel safe deposit boxes and steel doors, after the examination of a money counter newly added to the Museum and of which operation mechanism has not been determined yet, was eternalized by taking souvenir photos and video recordings in the long hallway while passing through the money counting sounds together with visual and numerical effects. The officials of Türkiye İş Bankası, who have shown great interest in our university and students, also gave various promotions to our students.
Very impressed by the arranged technical trip, the students also took various photos in front of the historical building, they shared their impressions with excitement by sitting again in a historical place right next to the Museum, and thereafter, by thanking to Asst. Prof. Dr. Gülgün ÇİĞDEM who arranged the technical trip and Res. Asst. Burçin YAZAR who contributed all stages of the trip, some of them left there to go to the school, while others who had time continued to observe the texture of Historical Peninsula.
