ISSUES TO BE CONSIDERED DURING APPLICATIONS

The student must have no disciplinary punishment.
Suspending the studies does not present an obstacle to benefit from lateral transfer rights.
If students benefit from lateral transfer, they are deemed to have been relinquished their scholarship.

In lateral transfers based on cumulative grade point average (CGPA);
Only lateral transfer from an evening education diploma program to another evening education diploma program is allowed.
Among students getting evening education diploma programs, those passed to the upper class within the first ten percent of their class in terms of success can make lateral transfer to a daytime education diploma program within the available quota.

Lateral transfer can be made from daytime education to evening education between the same diploma programs without any quota restriction in the same higher education institution. However, students who have transferred to the evening education diploma programs pay the evening education fee.
For inter-institutional lateral transfer based on cumulative grade point average (CGPA), the student is required to have a grade point average of 60 out of 100 for the semesters completed in the registered program.
For intra-institutional lateral transfer  based on cumulative grade point average (CGPA), the student is required to have a grade point average of 2.50 at minimum for the semesters completed in the registered program.
For intra-institutional lateral transfer , it is required to complete all courses in the course plan (except for elective courses) with a passing grade until the semester for which the application is made.

Lateral transfer is possible from an open or distance education diploma program to another open or distance education diploma program. For transfer from an open or distance education program to a formal education program, the student is required to have a grade point average of 60 out of 100 in the program studied, or the central placement score of him/her in the registration year must be equal or higher than the base score of diploma program of the transfer university for the same year.

For lateral transfers to the higher education programs in foreign language in full or partly, it is required to be successful in the Istanbul Gelisim University’s proficiency exam by receiving a score equal to 70 or over, or to document a satisfactory score achieved from nationally or internationally recognized foreign language examinations as determined by the relevant higher education institution (YDS: 60, TOEFL CBT:198, TOEFL IBT:72, TOEFL PBT: 531).

For international lateral transfers (except for TRNC), in addition to the documents given below, students are required to document that the institution in which they study is recognized by the Higher Education Council.

Intra-institutional  or inter-institutional lateral transfer based on cumulative grade point average (CGPA) is not allowed for the preparation classes of associate or bachelor’s diploma programs; or first and last semesters of associate diploma programs or first two and last two semesters of bachelor’s diploma programs.

For intra-institutional lateral transfer  or inter-institutional lateral transfer; the diploma programs of the same level which are determined to be 80% similar in name or content are taken as basis, as identified by the relevant board of directors.

In case of lateral transfers made as per Additional Article 1 (based on central placement score);
The students can make lateral transfer as per Additional Article 1 (based on central placement score) only once (so students who made lateral transfer before the said application period are not allowed to make lateral transfer again according to Additional Article 1), but students who made lateral transfer as per the aforementioned article are able to return to the higher education institute which they were entitled to register as a result of OSYS central placement results on later application dates.
